of the speaker , implicit, is not declared in the context , thought
the expressions are different in a word , colour , rhythm , gesture
and so forth ) . Such a discourse takes so deep a message moving
in tandem with the major one as it could be traced in the Palm
Frond-Sandal Weaving Hadith narrated by Al-Khadri that bifurcated
into three levels :
1 -Recognition Level.

Cursing and Blessing in English and Arabic: A Contrastive Study

Asst. Prof. Rajaa M. Flayih Ash; shibani

AL-AMEED JOURNAL, Volume 7, Issue 2, Pages 19-46

Stemming from the opinion that words have power to influence
humans and their relationships, cursing and blessing are chosen to
be studied in this research paper. Linguistically, they have not been
widely investigated in literature. In most previous studies, they have
been represented as social and theological phenomena. They tended
to be emotional expressions rather than declarative speech acts.
The present study tries to compare them linguistically, in both English
and Arabic languages, dealing with their characteristics in depth
by using a descriptive method. In addition to its preliminary attempt
to assign clearly the felicity conditions of blessing, this paper tries to
answer the following questions:
1. Is there a significant difference between cursing in English and its
counterpart in Arabic?
2. Is there a significant difference between blessing in English and
its counterpart in Arabic?
3. Is there a similarity between cursing and blessing?
4. Should they be treated as linguistic routines?
This paper is divided into five sections: the first examines cursing
in English structurally, semantically and pragmatically. The second
deals with it in Arabic. In the third section, a linguistic account is
given about blessing in English with an attempt to organize its felicity
conditions depending on those given for cursing within Searle
Model(1969), while the fourth looks at it in Arabic. Finally, the comparison
and the conclusions are given.

Impact of V-model on Literature Acquisition for Fourth Secondary School Pupils

AL-AMEED JOURNAL, Volume 3, Issue 3, Pages 281-356

The research aims at studying and establishing the impact of
V- model on literature - Arabic Literature - acquisition for fourth
secondary school pupils. In order to achieve the aim of the study,
the researcher uses the null hypothesis" assuming that there is no
significant statistical difference, that is to say, the significance level
of 0.05 between the subsequent educational acquisition of the experimental/
study group and the control group that learn the same
topics by using the traditional method.
The researcher selects students from a secondary school in
Baghdad for the academic year 2011- 2012. Fourth year pupils are
chosen as a study sample, and a number of topics and texts of literature
from one semester are selected, and the researcher takes appropriate
procedures and methodology to complete the research. A
total sample of (64) students are chosen randomly, divided into two
groups. The experimental/study group of 32 students are taught according
to the V- model, while the control group of 32 students as
well, are taught under the traditional way.
The researcher establishes the internal and external validity of
the evaluation by identifying the confounding factors of the study
design, identifying factors that can affect the variables and he prepares
a teaching plan consisting of (10) subjects/topics and texts
from fourth year secondary school , Arabic literature text, and there
is a test having (40) items/questions. The test consists of objective
questions including, multiple-choice questions and complete the
blanks type of questions. The researcher uses appropriate statistical
methods to complete the analysis of the results of the study and
control group.
The test reveals superiority of the experimental/study group
students who are taught under V- model over the students in the
control group who are taught under the traditional way. In the light
of the result of this research paper, the researcher concludes the
1. it is possible to apply different modern teaching models
that suit all the academic levels with no need to build new
applied models, as these teaching models prepared on theoretical
bases with numerous successful applications.
2. The (V) models use can overcome the difficulties faced by
the teacher and reduce the efforts and time consuming.
In the light of the outcome of the search and the above conclusion,
the researcher recommends the following:
1. providing appropriate training and development courses
for teachers in the official teaching institutions (Ministry of
Education) to equip them with the modern teaching models
such as V-model and to help to apply these models in the
educational community.
2. setting up training courses for teachers in Ministry of Education
to establish the new trends in the educational process.

Discourse and the Critical Discourse

Lecturer. Dr. Raad Fuad Talib

AL-AMEED JOURNAL, Volume 4, Issue 1, Pages 435-473

The issue of the discourse looms larger in the contemporary concerns as it ramifies into certain intellectual and textual controversies and grows as cultural enigma, in time we are in rapid transformations due to the knowledge explosion that reshapes many a concept and erects new ones. Thereupon the discourse heaves into horizon to be a salient phenomenon, that it is why we are in the welter of certain tremendous challenges, labyrinth description and multitudinous assertions; religious discourse, political discourse, intellectual discourse, critical discourse, poetic discourse, fictional discourse, media discourse and so forth .However, it is to have other legion concepts in a meant discourse itself; for instance, in the orbit of the critical discourse each literary movement drags such a concept into the interest of certain conceptual systems to erect a concept expressing the meant viewpoint. As a matter of fact, the concept of discourse designates certain conceptual controversies urging us to delimit and adjust it, so for an authenticated research study should depend upon an accurate and established base to employ the discourse as said by Voltaire, in his reputed word: “before starting to talk with me, delimit your discourse“. It is quite convenient to fathom the discourse in the Arab and Western orbits to tackle it in a transparent way in concordance with our studies on the modern or old critical discourse, Arab or nonArab. In the current paper we endeavor to trace the concept of the discourse in line with dictionaries to found a convenient perception and reconnoiter the concept of the discourse either in the Glorious Quran and its Explication or in the dictionaries, Arab dictionaries, the Western Discourse books and the linguistic, critical and philosophical propensities; that is why we do survey all the references to gain accuracy, in particular, those are pertinent to the contemporary critical system, such as the linguistic concept, cultural concept ,philosophical concept and the discourse concept in light of the studies that focus upon the issue of authority and tackle the concept of the discourse in the orbit of both structuralism and pragmatic concepts ,which is to have the Discourse and the Critical Discourse into the limelight.

Verism in The Crucible

Jaberi; Haider Ghazi Jassim AL

AL-AMEED JOURNAL, Volume 1, Issue 3, Pages 21-65

Verism as a term designates the fact that representing “truth” in an artwork, as it is and at any price. It is of high importance to drag the attention of the readers vehemently to the meant target2. More specifically, it highlights the truth beyond the lines in an artwork; it is by some means or other a part of realism that stipulates both here and now, everyday incidents and events, political, domestic and social, and the creator’s environment. Realism,in a sense, depicts life as it is, it is a portrayal of reality with fidelity, it does not exert itself in rendering life into something serene or chaotic; there is no other ways but to bring life into effect in a realistic piece of writing3; it vows drastic detours to dramatism with the emergence of Eugene O’Neill’s artworks in 19204.Combine that with the fact that chronicle, to the core, stresses the past events and recalls them in a dramatic means and in order of time, usually it is known as a history play; a chronicle one that manipulates recorded historical events as was tackled in The Crucible. The chronicle play originates in Seneca artworks and then glimpses in 18th and 19th century,as Darley, Tennyson, Browning and Swinburne turn the prow of their attention to history; then Thomas Hardy tackles history in The Dynasts.Ultimately, the second world war leaves a number of chronicle plays that dissect the human conflicts in term of history and these are respectively; Arthur Miller’s The crucible, Robert Bolt’s A Man for all Seasons and the State of Revolution5 and Ralf Hochhuth`s The Representative and soldier6.

Al-Taff Battle in the Sources of the Islamic History Third and Fourth Century Hegira (Scrutinizing Tests)

Amar Mohammed Younis; Asraa M. D. Al-Moorabi

AL-AMEED JOURNAL, Volume 2, Issue 4, Pages 155-238

From the heart of our heritage many details about historical battles emanate in precision and fidelity that cast us into pride, but it is not void of fraudulence, intrigue and exaggeration in the reign of a ruler who takes freedom in reshaping and weaving history as his brush stroke desires. To the extent his tales go axiomatic. We quail at rethinking of them or suspecting them, since they reach consensus.
The present paper is to be bifurcated into two parts: the first tackles Al-Taff battle as found in the sources of genealogy and conquests; the second manipulates the battle as found in the translated sources, classes and Islamic general history.

Poetic Schema and its Structures Epistemic Foundation Principles and Textual Employment

Prof. Dr. Tariq Thabit

AL-AMEED JOURNAL, Volume 5, Issue 0, Pages 19-49

The importance of schemata in the structural studies emanates from the surgence of the structural analysis; the personal perception is the fount of meaning , there should be a focus upon the system of decoding in which the self-diverts from the centre. The study tackles the nexus between the schemata and the structure to find a concept to the poetic schemata as a critical term.

Controversial Theology For Seid. Al-Sistani Peripateticism -Traveling much- as a nonpareil

AL-AMEED JOURNAL, Volume 3, Issue 3, Pages 415-464

For a theologist there is perception to a Quranic or narrative
text, since he has cumulative scientific experiences that come in line
with the right decision.
In time, the scope of evidence finding never delimits itself to
one dimensional perception; the evidence the theologists inspire
are much as their visions and opinions that give flexibility to the
rules promulgation and religion existence. The present paper consists
of four sections; the first aims at having proves of the one who
travels much, the second at surveying the definition of muchness
and how it exists in the first trip or the second or the third; the third
section is allotted to manifest Seid. Al-Sistani evidences, yet the
fourth takes hold of the controversial point for Al-Sistani and how
it differs from many old contemporary theologists; "does traveling
without doing a regular work considered as a traveling one that has
to do shortened or complete travel prayer?

Muhammad S. H. AL-Zayadi

AL-AMEED JOURNAL, Volume 3, Issue 4, Pages 253-328

The paper ramifies into an introduction and four sections with a conclusion
that draws lines to the essential findings. The first tackles the British
policy toward Syria before the second world war and Al-Askandarona

and the free French government in 1939-1943, deals with the British issues
concerned with Syria; the third, British Stance toward the French

and its consequences on the situations of the region, Moreover, the

Intentionality in the Sermon of Al-Sayadat. Al-Zahrah

Prof. Dr. Kareem H. N. Al-Khalidi

AL-AMEED JOURNAL, Volume 4, Issue 5, Pages 21-62

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Gracious Thanks be to Allah for whatever guidance and knowledge of His grandeur He grant; He bestow upon me the willing to thank and express my gratitude. Peace be upon the greatest prophet whom some perceive for his great niche finding its mention in the Glorious Quran: And thou standard on an exalted standard of character. Peace be upon his immaculate posterity and brave chosen companions. For the time being, the meant research paper is one of an avalanche of certain papers engraved for my sayadati and mawlati Fatima Al-Zahrah bent the prophet of peace and the science of piety, Mohammed (peace be upon him and his posterity) as it is entitled (Intentionality in the Sermons of Al-Sayadat .Fatima Al-Zahrah) such a title emulates the contemporary textual studies that give standards to the text; intentionality is one of these. I do find many a researcher gives no importance to the true intentionality for such an obstinate sermon .As such I exert myself into tackling the intentions intellectual, doctrinal, educational, message-laden, psychological and social Al-Sayadat. Fatima Al-Zahrah wants to convey to the Islamic nation in the hardest time of Islam; it is the time of the departure the nation prophet, leader and teacher .Such a phase is very critical Allah test the intention and cast the mind into ordeals to find their ways and to get the succor or fall in the snares of Satan. It is of essentiality for the study to explicate certain vantage points of the text to expose the explicit and implicit meanings. I do explicate the utterances, sentences and phrases for the sake of the structural semantics and what shades of content the context manifests. For my knowledge I feel such a sermon grows larger and larger in my mind to be manipulated for its significance and its origin; it is for the daughter of the prophet and the wife of the man of “asking me before losing me“; the portal of science, the pioneer of the greatest deeds in Islam, Ali Bin Ibitalib. As much as I could guide myself to the intentions of the sermons through scrutiny to decipher its structures for the sake of having the meant intentions of such an extraordinary sermon in the Islamic thoughts throughout ages.

Sign Theory and its Existence for Charles Sendrass Press

Ahmad A. M

AL-AMEED JOURNAL, Volume 3, Issue 4, Pages 229-252

The present research paper endeavours to shed light on semiotics
through which Press broaches a philosophy concerned with content culminating
in, though huge, only the hard-core as Charles Press declared.
Consequently, the paper is to bifurcate into three sections:
The first is to trace the sign formula ingredients for Press that are as
1. Representative
2. Object
3. Interpretant
The second is to trace the semiotic line in the sign formula according
to the applying facts, however the third is to trace Press triad the great according
to mathematic thinking supported by a matrix prone to universality
and open ended interaction .Ultimately, the paper suggests a diagram
having semiotic generation metamorphoses and their being from the sign
axiom and its great triad.
